Overseas importers are sometimes confused about the concept of
man-days.
Third-party inspection companies generally use man-days to determine service fees.
Understanding man-days is important for buyers to clearly understand their expenses. Next, I will give you a detailed introduction to what
man-days are and the basic calculation method.
Definition of
man-days?
A man-day is usually defined as the number of products that a QC inspector can inspect in one day. It indicates the labor required for the inspection company's inspectors to conduct inspections in a single measurement.
Generally speaking, man-days include the time it takes for inspectors to travel to and from the factory. Understanding
man-days helps to quote correctly. Some quality inspection companies calculate man-days in slightly different ways. Therefore, overseas buyers need to clarify the inspection company's
man-day calculation policy before cooperating with
Chinese inspection companies.
How to classify
man-daysUsually, a
man-day includes one inspector's work for one day. A two man-days is two inspectores of work for one inspector or one man-day's work for two QC personnel.
Example of how to classify
man-days.
A
man-day usually includes eight hours of work in the factory. If the time is more than ten hours, it is equal to
1 1/2 man-days. In addition, if the work time is more than sixteen hours, it is equal to
2 man-days.
Usually, a man-day includes six hours of factory work time and less than ten hours of travel time. In addition, if both travel and factory time are more than ten hours, it is equal to
1 1/2 man-days.
Example 2:
Most
pre-shipment inspections require only one man-day, but depending on the
AQL sampling method or sample size, some pre shipment inspection will require 2 man days.
